Hello Bear Families and Community Members,
The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce has released its 2025 report cards for Ohio school districts. We are proud to say that we once again received a 4.5 out of 5 rating. As a district, we believe that a better way to evaluate the overall program we provide to students is through our Quality Profile. The Quality Profile provides information that goes beyond test scores and is more comprehensive than the other measures on the state report card. If you have questions about the Report Card or the Quality Profile, please reach out.
As you are aware, the stated budget process has created a potential issue for our district if the veto override is successful and the ability to use emergency levies is eliminated. For our district, that would mean we would not be able to renew our $17.5 million Emergency Issue when it expires in 2028. Since that equates to almost 30% of our total operating budget, we would need to consider asking for a traditional operating issue to generate these funds. That operating issue would ultimately cost taxpayers more money than the current Emergency Levy, given that 12.5% of the Emergency Levy is funded by the state.
We have asked our legislators to sit with us and discuss property tax reduction instead of making cuts that would clearly devastate our district or cost our taxpayers more money. We kindly ask that you, our families, take the time to write to your legislators and advocate for our district. The contact information for your legislators is listed below.

It has been a great start to the year, and we appreciate the hard work and support of our staff, students, and families. Believe it or not, my next communication will arrive after the first quarter ends. Enjoy the next month!
