HIGH SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS

Congratulations Naisha Chopra
Senior Naisha Chopra has been offered full scholarships to 3 prestigious college programs.  She has been offered the Stamps President’s Scholarship from Georgia Tech, which represents less than 0.5% of the first-year applicant pool of 70,000 applicants.  She has been accepted into the Olin Distinguished Scholars Program at Washington University, St. Louis. Only 10 students are selected each year, and WashU has a record-low acceptance rate of 9%.  She has also been awarded the Stamps Eminence Scholarship at the Ohio State University, which is offered to fewer than 50 students out of over 80,000 applicants.  The future is bright.  We are so proud of you, Naisha!

Senior, Alden Brinkley at Baldwin Wallace’s Bach Festival
Congratulations to Senior Alden Brinkley on being selected to represent NRHS as the BachSings bass singer in Baldwin Wallace’s Bach Festival on April 18 at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory.

Albert Armin, Presidential 1776 Award
Albert Armin has been selected as a state alternate for the Presidential 1776 Award Competition from the Department of Education.  Albert earned one of the top scores in the state on the Impossible Civics Test. 

Congratulations to our Entrepreneurship Students
Mrs. Smith’s Entrepreneur students were very successful in the pitches that they created for the Mott’s Million Pitch Competition.  Click here to see the students’ ideas. 

OMEA State Band Finals
NRHS was the only band program in the state with all 4 bands qualifying for states!  Congratulations to all of our musicians, directors, and parents!  Come out and support our bands

Congratulations to Coach Prihoda
Coach Dan Prihoda earned his 100th career win as the boys and girls tennis coach!  NRHS athletes are lucky to have Coach Prihoda working with our athletes.

Girls’ Track Wins Lakewood Ranger Relays
The NRHS Girls’ Track team won the Lakewood Ranger Relays.  Congratulations to the athletes and coaches, as this was a complete team win with speed and depth.

Girls’ Flag Football
Our Girls' Flag Football team is 5-0!  Congratulations to the athletes and coaches on a great start to the season!

 

NEWS TO KNOW

Visitor Parking at NRHS
The spring is a busy time at NRHS, and we have many events parents are invited to attend during school hours.  When visiting NRHS, please park in a visitor's spot.  If all visitor spots are taken, please park in a non-painted available spot.  Seniors' painted spots are reserved for that senior only.  We appreciate your cooperation.

End of Course Exam Details
US History & Government
On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, we will run a Testing Bell Schedule for the US History and Government End-of-Course Exams.  All students enrolled in US History or Government are required to take the End-of-Course Exam at North Royalton High School.  Students taking a make-up exam will also be in attendance.  Students will report to their testing rooms at 7:20 am.

Algebra & Geometry
On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, we will run a Testing Bell Schedule for the Algebra 1 and Geometry End-of-Course Exams.  All students enrolled in Algebra 1 or Geometry are required to take the End-of-Course Exam at North Royalton High School.  Students taking a make-up exam will also be in attendance.  Students will report to their testing rooms at 7:20 am.

Biology
On Thursday, April 23, 2026, we will run a Testing Bell Schedule for the Biology End-of-Course Exam.  All freshmen are required to take the Biology End-of-Course Exam at North Royalton High School.  Students taking a make-up exam will also be in attendance.  Students will report to their testing rooms at 7:20 am.

Lunch on Testing Days
Any students not testing who will be eating lunch at the high school will need to arrive by 10:25 am and enter through Door #1.  Any students not eating lunch at the high school who arrive before 10:55 am will need to enter Door #2 or Door #5 and will be held in the Science Hub until 10:55 am, when they will be released to first period.  First period will start promptly at 11:00 am.

Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2026 Nominations
North Royalton Athletic Hall of Fame nominations are now open.  Do you know a former Bear who made a lasting impact on North Royalton Athletics? Now’s your chance to recognize their legacy. Senior Fees
All school fees must be paid for seniors to purchase prom tickets and participate in commencement.  Parents can check their PowerSchool accounts for fees and pay via credit card on https://payschoolscentral.com/ or send cash or checks (payable to NRHS) to the main office at the high school.

Commencement Photos
Commencement photo links will be emailed out approximately one week after the commencement ceremony. If you don’t receive your link within 10 days, please email us at info@cavanaughphoto.com and request your code.  Click here for more information.

Save the Date for the NR Chamber of Commerce Pageant
NR Chamber of Commerce will host the Royalton Pageant on Thursday, June 4, 2026, in the PAC at NRHS.  Click here for more information.

NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement
NASA continues to support a robust and highly impactful internship program. Across the agency, approximately 2,000 paid internships were offered over the past year through various programs. At NASA Glenn alone, more than 200 students participated in paid internships during the most recent summer session.

The College of Wooster’s B-WISER Science Camp for Girls
Buckeye Women in Science, Engineering, and Research (B-WISER) is a non-profit that began in 1990 and is designed for girls who will be completing grades 7-10.  We prioritize making this opportunity affordable to any interested young woman; financial aid recipients pay just $160 for the week, including room and board. Partnering with the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation, B-WISER camp provides hands-on experience in physics, chemistry, geology, biology, engineering, plus a variety of advanced topics.  The residential program takes place on The College of Wooster campus from June 15-20, 2026.  Please see our website for more information:  https://bwiser.spaces.wooster.edu/.   Click here for the flyer.

Broadcasting at CSU
Cleveland State currently offers a minor program in Broadcasting & Digital Content Production.  The major is in the process of being reviewed and approved.  Please click here for more information on the current minor.  Cleveland State is having its annual open house on Saturday, April 25.  They will be giving tours of the podcasting lab and broadcast studio, and Classic Teleproductions will have one of their production trucks on site to tour as well, from 11:00 – 12:30 that day.  Registration for the open house is at https://www.csuohio.edu/openhouse.  Any students/parents may also stop by our studio if they would like to do so that day. Parking Permits
ALL lots are SOLD OUT.  Students who submit applications will be placed on a waiting list, and if spots become available, they will be notified in order of completed applications.  Students parking without a permit are subject to school discipline, tickets, and having the vehicle towed.

AP Capstone
Starting with the class of 2028, NRHS will be an AP Capstone school. This program will be a great benefit to students who want to build strong research, critical thinking, and communication skills while gaining a competitive edge for college admissions.

Tutoring Available at NRHS
NHS students will be available for tutoring during the school day for students who need help.  Please click here to sign up for tutoring.

25-26 Yearbooks are on sale now!
Yearbooks are on sale now. Cash/Check to Ms. Roach (D105) or Mr. Dietrich (D106). Price from now until 12/20/2025 is $100. Price increases to $105 after December 20, 2025, until May 1, 2026. Books must be purchased on or before May 1, 2026. No exceptions. Click on the Order Form or purchases can also be made at www.yearbookforever.com with customization options. The fees for 2025-2026 have been updated in PowerSchool.  Parents can check their PowerSchool accounts for fees and pay via credit card on https://payschoolscentral.com/ or send cash or checks (payable to NRHS) to the main office at the high school.

Multiple Bell Schedules
North Royalton has a number of different bell schedules that we will run throughout the year based on our in-school activities/assemblies.  Please click here for the dates we will run a different schedule.  Students with Open Campus, please make special note of when the schedule will be different to ensure you are in school at the appropriate times.

Course & Activity Fees

NRHS  Adds School SAFEid to Safety Protocols
NRHS has added the School SAFEid visitor management system to our safety protocols.  All parents, visitors, volunteers, vendors, and substitutes will be required to check in at one of our kiosks with a state identification card or driver's license.  This will allow us to continue to reduce risks and keep our NRHS family safe.
